Public Hunting

CWMUs must provide comparable hunting opportunities to those who draw the public permit to hunt a specific species on a specific CWMU.  Comparable hunting opportunities has been defined by three things:

  1. Within the management plan, specify the dates that the general public will be allowed to hunt the unit.  Allow the public permit holders reasonable access to all CWMU property during the applicable hunting seasons for purposes of filling the permit
  2. Within the management plan, provide a detailed explanation of how comparable hunting opportunities will be provided to both the private and public permit holders
  3. create a satisfying hunting opportunity

We encourage all those who are considering applying for a CWMU permit both antlered and antlerless species to review information on the individual CWMU management plan. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, we then encourage you to contact the operator by email or phone BEFORE YOU APPLY.
